BF6 Gamers Are Convinced: Missions Are Overly Demanding
The launch of the highly anticipated Battlefield 6 garnered significant enthusiasm, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, concurrent player counts surged to nearly 750,000. However, in spite of its success, an increasing amount of players are protesting against a portion of the release's most difficult challenges, which are necessary to unlock specific weapons.
Users have commenced turning to personalized games created through Battlefield Portal to complete them, highlighting just how arduous these challenges have become.
Grasping Battlefield 6 Objectives
Tasks represent Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, as opposed to the frequently updated day-to-day and weekly tasks. The game includes four classes of assignments, but where most only reward outfits and select equipment, achieving the firearm tasks is the sole method of acquiring 12 of the 41 key firearms available in the game.
Several of these restricted firearms may soon find their way on rosters of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.
Gamer Backlash via Reddit
Within Reddit, players are justifiably expressing their worries about how difficult and grindy several of these challenges are. One user emphasized one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:
- Suppress 300 enemies with LMGs
- Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs
"This task is so terrible and totally unreasonable, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a statement that captures just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.
Suppression in Battlefield is less effective than in previous titles in the series, so it doesn't have anywhere near as many positive effects in fights as it used to in previous games. It only counts as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.
At the same time, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and functions solely at point-blank proximity, which is not usually a position you prefer to be. That player also highlighted the irony in the SMG challenge, required for the SCW-10, which needs takedowns using ADS, when that mission would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and the other way around.
Another Extremely Difficult Challenge
Another Reddit user brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, now in the marksman rifle class to access the PSR:
- Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with marksman guns
This is difficult enough as it is, but there's another important point to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps fail to facilitate combat at that kind of range.
There exists a reasonable assortment of map sizes, but because there are just nine levels in the game at present, it means you're limited to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and perhaps a classic map at a push if you want to snipe from over 200m away.
The Alternative Method
There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. The custom game creator is a system that permits you to create personalized matches on any map you prefer, complete with bots. This implies you can bypass the intended method… but it doesn't exactly feel like the intended gameplay experience.
However, when completing the missions in a proper game appears to work against fun, since you must engage in such an unconventional way that doesn't benefit you or your team, who can blame someone for finishing these in a custom game so teammates aren't hindered?
Upcoming Tweaks
It should not be shocking if a number of these missions are made easier in the coming days or weeks, because unless they are modified, a portion of the user base simply won't get their hands on the restricted guns.
At the moment, the community continues to express their views on these strenuous multiplayer missions, expecting a fairer player experience in subsequent patches.
